Abstract

Technologies have advanced at a dizzying pace, forcing all sectors of society to adapt to the changes brought about by technology. The financial sector is no exception; it is undoubtedly one of the sectors that has implemented the most changes in recent decades, aiming to achieve more reliable and secure banking systems. The use of mobile applications for making payments is one of the most widely used payment methodologies today, as they offer, among other benefits, convenience and security. The objective of this research is to describe the factors that determine the use of mobile payment applications among the student population at the Faculty of Business Sciences of the UTMACH. Using a research methodology with a quantitative approach and a non-experimental design, descriptive and correlational in scope, it is also a documentary research since secondary data sources such as scientific journals, academic publications, books, among others, were examined. An instrument consisting of 20 questions was developed, divided into two sections. The first seeks to understand students' attitudes and perceptions regarding the use of the mobile payment application, and the second section seeks to address any relationships that may or may not exist between income and spending on wallets. This instrument was applied to a sample of 352 students. Among the main findings was the determination of a correlation between socioeconomic variables (income and spending on virtual wallets), as well as the strong acceptance of the application among the study population.
