Abstract

Digital animation and immersive technologies are significantly transforming forensic science by providing innovative tools for crime scene reconstruction, evidence analysis, and the presentation of proofs in judicial processes. This study, based on a systematic review using the PRISMA methodology, analyzes thirty recent investigations that explore the use of technologies such as forensic animation, augmented reality, 3D technology, photogrammetry, digital evidence, and artificial intelligence in the forensic field. The results reveal a growing trend toward adopting these digital tools, with augmented reality, digital evidence, and animation standing out as the most applied for visualizing and understanding events. Although each technology has specific advantages and limitations, their combined integration optimizes investigations, making forensic work more accessible, faster, and clearer for judges, prosecutors, and other judicial system actors.

Student of the Bachelor's Degree in Animation and Visual Effects Engineering at the Instituto Tecnológico Superior de Escárcega. Throughout my academic journey, I have focused my interest on the application of digital animation in criminalistic contexts, aiming to explore its potential as a support tool for crime scene reconstruction, forensic visualization, and the analysis of complex scenarios. My profile combines technical knowledge in 3D modeling, animation, and visual composition with a critical perspective on how these resources can be integrated into investigative and judicial processes. I have participated in interdisciplinary events that promote the use of animation as a medium for raising awareness, particularly in projects aimed at children, where visual storytelling is used to convey educational messages with strong social impact. My goal is to continue specializing at the intersection of technology, narrative, and science, developing innovative visual solutions that contribute to criminalistics, scientific communication, and education.

Student of the Digital Animation and Visual Effects Engineering program at the Instituto Tecnológico Superior de Escárcega, as well as the Criminology Bachelor's program at the Instituto Universitario Patria y Libertad. I am currently in the sixth semester and second quarter of each respective program. Throughout my academic journey, I have developed a particular interest in how animation can be applied in various areas of life beyond entertainment. For this reason, I have participated in interdisciplinary events that aim to promote animation as a visual tool with social impact. At the same time, my interest in the field of criminology has motivated me to connect both disciplines, with the goal of deepening my knowledge and designing visual proposals that contribute to the understanding, prevention, and analysis of criminal issues.
